Hudsons Surgery Day

So, Last Friday Hudson had his eye surgery. He had a clogged tear duct (can't remember the technical term for it). So we saw a pediatric ophthalmologist and he said he would recommend having the surgery. It is a very common surgery, and doesn't take very long at all, but they had to put him out for it. That was the hardest, longest part. Here is Hudson at primary's waiting to be taken back. His hospital pajamas were SO dang cute on him. I wanted to take them home. :) He was VERY tired and VERY hungry that morning because he couldn't eat anything for about 12 hours prior to the surgery.

I didn't take any pictures of him after the surgery was over because it was pretty traumatic while he was coming out of the anesthesia. He was screaming for momma, and I was HOLDING HIM! The nurse was trying to get him to take sips of a slushy, and eat a cookie, but he wouldn't. So there we were, sitting with him in the rocking chair, while he just screamed.... he was SO not himself. It took about a half hour for him to finally stop crying and fall asleep in my arms. Poor little guy. It was rough. But, the good news is that the surgery seems to have been very successful. He hasn't had any of the symptoms since, and he actually ENJOYS when we have to put the eye drops in his eye. It's pretty cute how he just surrenders himself to me and lays his head back on my leg so that I can put a drop in. Sweet little man of mine.

Poor little guy! I didn't know he was even having surgery. It is so heartbreaking to watch your kids in that condition :( I hope he continues to get better. And how are you? Is that little girl almost here yet? I can't wait to meet her!!!! I tried to call you to bring you your gift but I couldn't reach ya. Hopefully you'll let us come see you in the hospital and we can bring it then. Can't wait

Oh Heidi - that kinda makes me teary. I know it was a small surgery, but to see your little guy in so much pain would be tough. Hudson is lucky to have such a good mommy. And it sounds like you have a little girl about to arrive any day now! I'm excited for you!

OH Heidi, your little guy in hospital makes me sad! I'm glad everything went ok. Let me know if you need any help once your baby girl comes!

Oh my goodness, that must have been so hard! Good job little trooper. I can't believe you only have 2 days until your due date. Are you going to be induced/c-section/natural...or what? I will be in Utah on Saturday for a week, so if there is anything I can do, let me know. Otherwise I just want to stop by and check on you to see how you're doing. Let me know if that's okay.

What a brave little man! That must have been hard for you as a mom. I hate taking Sophy to the Dr. And are they crazy for telling us that the poor little kids aren't allowed to eat for an extended period of time??? That seems so unfair to the little ones (though understandable knowing why).
